In the golden years?
As your loved one ages, it’s even more important that you have a good relationship with their veterinarian, and that they are seen more frequently. Correctly treating painful conditions and early detection of disease translate into an improved quality of life, and can often prolong the years you have together.
Generally, we recommend that every “senior” pet – those that are 7 years or older – are seen every 6 months. This is because their quality of life and body is changing so rapidly. We understand the impact that geriatric care can have on their lives, and we are honored to be able to care for them.
At some point, many families will start to question the quality of life their pet is experiencing, and what options they have to keep them comfortable. During this process, we will walk along side you and help you determine what the best course of treatment is for your family.
We will also walk alongside you with unique options for pain control and improved quality of life in your older animals. Many human patients will attest to improved pain control, and decrease in symptoms using complementary therapies. Dr. Dixon will go over all the available options with you.
If you are facing geriatric care or pain control issues with your loved one, we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible to see how we can help. Contact us.
